The impressed stamp to the base is consistent with work produced from 1962 onwards, when the pottery evolved under Southcliffe’s direction, a lovely, grounded pieces of Welsh studio ceramics.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe jug has the most wonderful sculptural form: a softly pinched pouring lip and an elongated, flat handle that feels sculptural and lovely to hold. The body is carved with fine vertical ribbing, allowing the rich iron-red clay to show through beneath the glaze.
