A beautifully hand-crafted folk art ship in a bottle, housed in a distinctive square-based spirit bottle embossed with “P. Bokma – Leeuwarden, Holland.” This miniature sailing ship is intricately made, with three finely rigged masts and hand-carved sails, all poised over sculpted and painted waves in rich marine blue.
It’s a true testament to traditional folk craftsmanship, the kind of slow, skilled work that invites you to pause and look closer. Each detail speaks of patience and care, from the taut rigging to the gentle curve of the sails.
The bottle itself adds an extra layer of history. Once home to Dutch genever made by P. Bokma, a distillery founded in 1826 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, it features the original embossed marks. Their signature square bottles were first designed by Pieter Bokma in 1894, now iconic in Dutch distilling heritage.
