This is the kind of piece that feels like it once hung beside a range in a working kitchen, jam bubbling, sugar slowly turning to caramel, wooden spoons resting on the side. The face is marked with traditional confectionery stages - caramel, crack, hard ball, a quiet nod to slower, more considered cooking.
