A beautifully utilitarian object from a time when tending a candle was a small daily ritual.
This antique candle and hearth brush features soft natural bristles (likely horsehair) housed within a warm copper sleeve, with a turned brass handle that extends and retracts smoothly. Designed to gently brush away charred wick ends, soot, and ash, it would have been used to care for candles and oil lamps without damaging delicate brass or glass.
Both practical and quietly sculptural, it speaks to a slower, more intentional way of living, where even the smallest tools were made to last and to be handled daily.
Today, it makes a charming addition to a fireside, kitchen shelf, coffee table or equally at home beside candles, matches and treasured everyday objects.
