Antique French Green Glazed Pottery Colander / Strainer

A beautifully timeworn antique French pottery colander, finished in the most wonderful deep green glaze.

It has such a lovely, substantial shape, with little side handles, a raised foot and hand-pierced drainage holes around the bowl. The glaze has developed the sort of texture that only comes with age, areas of crazing, little chips and worn patches around the rim and handles, all adding to its character rather than taking away from it.

It still remains structurally sound and fully usable, whether kept in the kitchen for fruit and vegetables or simply displayed on a shelf or table. I especially love it filled with apples, lemons or seasonal finds.

A really beautiful piece of old French kitchen pottery, full of age, texture and that perfectly imperfect charm we always look for at Hiraeth.

Vintage condition: some chips to the glaze around the rim and handle consistent with age (please see photos)
