This charming stoneware ginger beer bottle hails from Wellington Street, Kettering, and bears the bold black transfer print of J. Miller & Childs, once brewers of traditional ginger beer. Produced by the well-known Bourne Denby pottery, the bottle features the maker’s impressed mark near the base, a hallmark of quality and British ceramic history.
Glazed in a warm ochre hue with that classic salt-fired sheen, it still retains its original wire loop around the neck where a ceramic or cork stopper would once have secured the fizz. A few small age-related chips add to its character and speak to its long life, once a refreshment bottle, now a piece of industrial folk art.
Perfect styled as a single-stem vase, grouped with other antique bottles, or simply admired for its typographic beauty and heritage.
Height: 19cm
Base Diameter: 6.5cm
