Brimming with warmth and rustic charm, this beautiful early 20th Century slipware jug is a heartfelt reminder that the simplest gifts often carry the most meaning. Hand-decorated with a tender inscription, “This gift may be small, but the love is all”, it’s adorned with delicately painted blue flowers and trailing vines on one side, while the reverse bursts with cheerful floral motifs in vibrant red, teal, and indigo.
Likely made by a regional British pottery in the early 1900s–1930s, this piece reflects the values of the Arts & Crafts movement: honesty in materials, hand-crafted beauty, and the celebration of everyday domestic rituals. Its rich honey toned slip, terracotta interior, and lovingly imperfect brushwork give it a soulful presence that’s impossible to replicate.
In excellent condition for its age, with no chips or cracks , only minor, gentle crazing that adds to its timeworn beauty and authenticity.
Whether used as a small pitcher, a vase for garden blooms, or a decorative piece in a cottage kitchen, it’s a treasure full of heart.
