A beautifully crafted late Victorian–Edwardian brass oil syringe, originally used for the careful lubrication of clocks, sewing machines, scientific instruments, and fine machinery.
Made entirely from solid brass, this piece unscrews to reveal its original leather piston - a traditional detail of the period, designed to swell gently when oiled and create a tight, functional seal. The domed thumb press, slender nozzle, and softly worn surface give the object an understated, sculptural quality, balancing purpose with thoughtful design.
Time has left its mark in the form of a warm, even patina and gentle signs of use, adding to the character and quiet beauty of the piece. Once a tool of maintenance and care, it now sits just as comfortably as a decorative object, a small reminder of a slower, more deliberate approach to making and mending.
A tactile, honest object that feels at home among books, pottery, and everyday rituals.
