A rare and beautifully preserved antique ginger beer bottle from H.G. Lawrance & Sons, a historic Suffolk drinks manufacturer once based in Beccles, Lowestoft & Saxmundham. With its bold black transfer print and classic two-tone salt glaze, this piece dates from the late 19th to early 20th century and is a fine example of early British advertising pottery.
What makes this bottle especially special is the original wire still looped around the neck, once used to secure the cork in place, a detail that’s rarely survived and speaks to the exceptional condition of this piece. Most similar bottles on the market have lost this feature entirely.
Whether styled with wildflowers as a rustic bud vase, or displayed as part of a growing collection of antique utility ware, it’s a soulful piece that brings with it echoes of Victorian picnics, market stalls, and coastal shops of East Anglia’s past.
