A beautifully simple antique stoneware ginger beer bottle, embossed with “R. White, London”, a nod to one of Britain’s most iconic Victorian soft drink manufacturers. Made around the late 19th to early 20th century, this piece would once have held effervescent ginger beer, sold door-to-door or from bustling corner shops.
The warm treacle-toned salt glaze and tactile surface speak to its utilitarian past, while the soft, timeworn texture and faint flecks in the glaze make it a lovely decorative piece today. Whether used as a bud vase, grouped on a shelf with other ceramics, or simply admired for its form and history, it brings quiet character to any space.
Originally produced for everyday use, it’s now a small but soulful fragment of social history.
