A wonderfully characterful antique stoneware ginger beer bottle, stamped W. RAMSELL – KING’S LYNN. This is a true piece of Norfolk social history, the kind of humble, everyday object that has survived over a century and now feels beautifully sculptural in a modern home.
Thrown in thick, durable stoneware and finished in the classic Victorian two-tone glaze - rich treacle brown to the shoulder and a soft, speckled oatmeal beneath, it carries all the subtle marks, textures, and firing quirks we love in 19th–early 20th century utility ware. These bottles were once returned, refilled, and reused until worn out, so finding one in this condition is a treat.
Perfect styled with a single wild stem, grouped with other stoneware pieces, or displayed simply on a shelf for its form and history. Antique bottles from individual regional bottlers like Ramsell are increasingly collectible, especially those with clear, crisp embossing.
