A small but beautifully expressive piece of Swiss ceramic folkware, made in Thun circa the 1920s. This antique terracotta creamer is hand-decorated in the classic Reliefkeramik style, with creamy trailing florals dancing over a deep, matte cobalt glaze. The glaze has a soft chalky texture that catches the light beautifully, and the floral design feels both joyful and grounded, like something you’d find tucked away in an Alpine kitchen cupboard.
The spout is chipped and softly worn with age, signs of a life once lived, and still full of charm. I love it styled with wildflowers or matches by the fire, or simply sat on a shelf where its quiet presence can be noticed.
Stamped to the base with the number 595, typical of early 20th-century Thun production.
