A truly beautiful piece of Victorian art pottery, with the most wonderful dusty blue finish and intricately impressed botanical decoration in a contrasting soft cream.

Delicate ferns and foliage wrap around the rounded body of the vessel, with a beautifully detailed decorative border around the rim.

This beautiful piece bears a striking resemblance to the historic Salopian Art Pottery produced by Benthall Pottery, near Broseley in Shropshire, from the 1880s onwards. The pottery became celebrated for its decorative earthenware, particularly its nature-inspired designs and intricate incised botanical patterns. Although this particular vessel is unmarked, its form, colour and decoration are wonderfully reminiscent of these historic pieces.

Beautiful displayed amongst antique books, botanical prints and collected treasures, or filled with a few delicate dried stems.A wonderful find for lovers of antique English pottery and Victorian craftsmanship.

Condition: Beautiful antique condition, with gentle signs of age. There are a few tiny, pin-sized irregularities around the rim which are smooth to the touch and may be original to the making process rather than later damage.
