Contemporary Studio Pottery Wonky Lady Candle Holder / Bud Vase by Janet Dawes

Oh I absolutely love her. A completely unique contemporary studio pottery lady by Janet Dawes of Daventry, with the most wonderful tall, slightly wonky shape, a gentle face and her little hands planted firmly on her hips.

She’s decorated with gorgeous cobalt blue polka dots over a creamy speckled glaze, with a tiny painted face, rosy cheeks, red lips and the sweetest blue fringe. There’s something about her stance that gives her so much personality, she looks calm, content and beautiful under candle light. 

Beautifully designed to be used in two ways, she holds a dinner candle perfectly but can also be used as a bud vase for a single stems or wildflowers. I love pieces like this that are sculptural and useful at the same time, but mostly I just love how completely individual she is.

Handmade and full of all the lovely irregularities you want from studio pottery. Signed JD to both the base and the back.
