Japanese Mishima Pottery Floral Jug

A beautiful Japanese jug made using the Mishima technique. Mishima ceramics come from the Japanese Island of Mishima, but it was originally transported from Korea around the 16th century. This surface design technique is a way of drawing by inlaying a slip of contrasting colour into lines incised in leather-hard clay. This is such a gorgeous and unique piece with so much character.
