An impressively large and heavy studio pottery wall plate, handmade and purchased from a small pottery in Suffolk around 20 years ago. This is a one-of-a-kind piece that carries the calm and quiet strength of coastal craftsmanship — tactile, earthy, and timeless.
Thrown on the wheel with visible concentric rings that add depth and texture, the plate is finished in a soft chalky glaze that blends pale, sandy neutrals with washed-out blues — reminiscent of shoreline stones and sea-worn driftwood. The glaze has a subtle sheen without being overly glossy, giving it a beautiful natural feel.
There’s a lovely honesty to this piece — it’s sturdy, quiet, and made to be lived with. A beautiful example of early 2000s British studio pottery, perfect for anyone drawn to coastal colour palettes, earthy tactile forms, and the understated beauty of hand-thrown ceramics.
