An absolutely stunning example of vintage Portuguese majolica cabbageware, stamped M Portugal P22B. It’s the scale that makes this piece so special—beautifully large and generous, with sculptural raised leaves that ripple around the edge like ruffles. The glaze is deep and glossy, that perfect cabbage green, full of variation and richness.
Originally made as a serving platter, but I think it really comes into its own as a decorative tray. It belongs in the centre of a kitchen island, a dining table, or layered onto a coffee table—styled with candles, cut flowers, a little dish of salt or a scattering of beach finds. It holds space beautifully.
Made from majolica ceramic, based on the back stamp it was likely made circa the 1950s–70s, it has a lovely weight and presence. The surface shows the light crazing throughout, just enough to give it character. No chips, no cracks—just that warm, timeworn charm.
