Large Welsh Studio Pottery Green Glazed Vase • Signed Welsh Folk Art

A remarkable piece of signed Welsh studio pottery, this large hand-thrown vase is full of character and craftsmanship. Glazed in a richly layered green with visible pooling, brushwork, and tonal shifts, it has a depth and texture that can only be achieved through skilled, intentional hands. A truly wonderful one-of-a-kind piece. 

The surface features delicate all-over crazing and beautiful irregularities, areas where the glaze thins, deepens, or gathers into softened ridges, which give the piece a quietly tactile presence. A raised band of hand-tooled slip-work just below the neck, in a subtle folk motif, adding a quiet nod to tradition.

Stamped “WALES” and signed with the artist’s initials, with the date ‘03’ to the base, this piece reads as both sculptural and deeply usable. Its elegant, timeless form makes it ideal for generous arrangements of seasonal branches or dried stems, or left empty as a sculptural centrepiece in its own right.
