A striking and totally one-of-a-kind piece of French studio pottery, likely midcentury. Heavy, substantial, and full of character, this wine jar has a beautiful hand-thrown form with twisted rope handles and painterly white glaze drips over earthy red clay. It’s stamped Le Vin on the front — a subtle nod to its original purpose, though it feels more like a sculptural object now.
There are chips, crazing, and surface marks (especially on the glaze), but none of it feels like damage — they just tell the story of a life well-lived. This is the sort of piece that grounds a space and has such a wonderful presence.
