A truly exceptional example of British studio pottery by Leonard Stockley of Weymouth — a potter best known for his traditional slipware. This tall vase, however, stands apart from his more typical darker-toned work, showcasing a rare and highly desirable cream and blue drip glaze, accented by exquisite raised floral impressions.
The surface is alive with movement: cascading blues over buttery cream, punctuated by intricate, almost frost-like botanical detailing. Wheel-thrown in red earthenware and signed clearly to the base, it speaks to Stockley’s masterful control of both form and glaze.
Vases of this scale and palette from Stockley are seldom seen, making this a collector’s piece as much as a decorative one. A striking addition to any ceramic collection or an incredibly beautiful statement on a shelf or sideboard.
