Rare Vintage Welsh Studio Pottery Plate by Doniau Cudd, Bangor, North Wales

A beautifully crafted studio pottery plate made in Bangor, North Wales by Doniau Cudd. This charming piece has a speckled blue glaze, featuring a hand-drawn oak leaf and acorn motif in warm brown tones. Encircling the rim is an excerpt from Shakespeare’s Richard II, delicately inscribed in freehand script: “This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.”

Marked on the base with a gold foil sticker reading “Doniau Cudd – Bangor – Lluniwaith o Gymru – Hand Made in Wales”, and signed “Richard Second II”, referencing the quote. A poetic piece of pottery perfect as a decorative accent or displayed on the wall.
