A truly special studio find, this small pitcher is inscribed Llefrith—the Welsh word for milk—and was hand-thrown and decorated by Abaty Pottery in the 1970s. A rare variation even among Abaty’s beautifully rustic work, I’ve never come across this design before, this particular design features expressive slipware script paired with painted floral flourishes in earthy tones.

Glazed internally in rich dark brown, it’s the perfect size for milk, cream, or even a small posy of herbs on the table. Wonderfully tactile, warm-toned stoneware with a folk-art sensibility that feels right at home in a slow, lived-in kitchen.
