An incredible hand-built studio pottery vase by Andrew Bristow of Bristow Pottery (Bonchurch, Isle of Wight), signed AB Bristow to the base.
Rendered in a rich cobalt glaze, this piece features a beautifully hand-painted seaside scene depicting figures gazing toward the waves, evoking the warmth and nostalgia of British coastal life. The artwork wraps harmoniously around the squared form, showcasing Bristow’s distinctive painterly touch and craftsmanship.
Andrew Bristow, son of renowned potter Anthony (Tony) Bristow, began his career at Bonchurch Pottery in the 1970s, later developing his own expressive style, often signing pieces with his full name once he moved away from the earlier Bonchurch mark.
A rare, one of a kind, evocative work that bridges painting and pottery, this vase is both sculptural and functional, perfect displayed on its own or holding a few simple stems.
