Very Rare Studio Pottery ‘Celtic Knot’ Candle Holder by Janet Slade, Cambridge

An exceptional example of British studio pottery, this rare candle holder was handmade by the late Janet Slade of Hinton Slade Pottery, Cambridge. Crafted in a soft, speckled glaze with warm earthy tones, its distinctive form features three looping compartments that interlock around a central taper holder, evoking the timeless symbolism of a Celtic knot.

Both sculptural and functional, this piece is a beautiful meditation on unity, craft, and form. It bears Slade’s impressed mark to the base and retains the original studio label.

Slade, a graduate of the Royal College of Art, was known for her elegant, wheel-thrown domestic ware and her commitment to craftsmanship over commerce. Her work has become increasingly collectible following her passing in 2024, and this piece is a stunning tribute to her legacy.
