A remarkable studio pottery slipware jug, dated 1937 and decorated with a flowing oak leaf design in cream and green against a deep brown glaze. Inscribed “Gerry 1937” on the base, this is a truly one-of-a-kind piece, carrying with it the story and hand of its maker nearly ninety years ago.
The jug’s form is full of character, with a rounded body, sturdy handle, and gently flared lip. The oak leaf motif, a symbol of strength and endurance, has been applied with a folk-art sensibility, lending a warmth and individuality that makes this jug stand out as both functional and decorative.
Beautifully crafted and rich with history, it makes a unique display piece, whether styled with seasonal flowers or appreciated as an evocative object in its own right.
