Vintage 1950s Handpainted Folk Art Wooden Pencil Case | Mary Allwood’s Pencil Box

Oh, this really is the sweetest little piece of childhood nostalgia. Dating from the 1950s, this beautiful wooden pencil case has been lovingly handpainted in the prettiest shade of green, with two little teddy bears playing with a red balloon and a blue umbrella.

The wonderfully chippy paint, little marks and signs of age tell the story of a piece that has been used and treasured over the years. But my favourite detail is the handwritten name of its previous owner, ‘Mary Allwood’, carefully written inside and on the base. A lovely little reminder of the person who once kept their pencils and childhood treasures tucked away inside.

A charming piece of folk art, full of character and history. Perfect for storing pencils, little keepsakes and collected treasures, or displayed on a shelf as a beautiful piece of the past.

In lovely vintage condition, with chippy paint and signs of age throughout, all part of its wonderful story.
