A beautiful 1970s studio pottery bud vase by Christine Bull, founder of Meadowcroft Pottery. Thrown in a warm, earthy stoneware and finished with a softly contrasting cream ground, the vase is decorated with a hand-painted woodland scene - delicate trees and undergrowth forming a quiet, almost storybook landscape that wraps around the body.
Christine Bull worked from the 1970s onwards, creating thoughtful, nature-led ceramics that feel deeply rooted in the British countryside. This piece carries all the hallmarks of her work: gentle proportions, subtle glaze transitions, and a calm, contemplative surface that rewards close looking. The original Meadowcroft Pottery label remains intact on the base, a lovely surviving detail.
Perfectly scaled for a single stem, dried foliage, or simply to be enjoyed as a sculptural object, this vase sits beautifully on a shelf, bedside table, or windowsill. There is a sense of stillness to it, the kind of piece that quietly anchors a space rather than demanding attention.
