A beautifully hand-thrown and hand-painted slipware hat pin holder by Aller Vale Pottery, Torquay, featuring the inscription “A Place for the Hat Pins” around its base. Decorated in rich green glaze with cream, ochre, and cobalt slip motifs typical of the Devon pottery tradition, this charming piece embodies the rustic artistry and humour of early 20th-century West Country ceramics.
Originally designed to keep hat pins safely stored and within reach on a dressing table, the piece now makes a lovely display vessel for dried blooms or small stems. Equally perfect to hold pins in a sewing room. It bears the impressed Aller Vale mark to the base and displays gentle signs of age, a testament to its many decades of life and use.
A collectible example of English slipware pottery from a renowned Devon maker, brimming with character and folk charm.
