Vintage Blue & Green Studio Pottery Wall Plate, Hand-Painted Bird Design, 1985

An incredibly beautiful piece of studio pottery, this large decorative wall plate is a true celebration of painterly form and natural colour. Hand-painted in vivid blues and lush greens, the central design features a stylised bird nestled among abstracted leaves and berries, framed by a beautiful botanical border. The layered glaze work creates wonderful depth and texture, from the intricate feather-like brushstrokes to the softly sponged golden background.

The plate is date-stamped 17.11.85 on the reverse and was clearly created by a skilled hand, likely a one-off or part of a very limited studio run. It evokes the expressive, nature-inspired tradition of British and European studio pottery from the 1970s–80s.
