Vintage Hand-Carved Aventurine Pig Sculpture

A beautifully detailed vintage pig sculpture, hand-carved from soft green aventurine. I found this piece at an antique fair on a hot sunny morning, it caught the light in just the right way and stopped me in my tracks. There’s something wonderfully calm and contented about it, from the gentle curve of its back to the upward tilt of its snout.

The carving is surprisingly intricate and detailed, especially around the ears and limbs, and the aventurine has a lovely soft translucency, glowing a little brighter where it’s thinner at the legs and ears. It’s smooth, weighty, and grounding in the hand. A tactile object with a quiet presence and so much craftsmanship. 

Aventurine is often associated with prosperity, optimism, and emotional balance. Pigs, too, have long been symbols of abundance, joy, and comfort in folklore across cultures. This piece feels like a gentle keeper of good things, something to place on a shelf, windowsill, or bedside table where it can quietly catch the light.
