This vintage Chinese studio pottery ginger jar has the most lovely rounded form, softly balanced and so satisfying to the eye. The glaze is where it really comes alive, a gentle, stone-like texture in warm, earthy tones, with the faintest wash of blue banding running around the body. It’s subtle, but it catches the light in such a soft, painterly way.

I love it styled with fresh stems, but equally it stands beautifully on its own. It has that grounding presence that handmade pottery always does, quietly anchoring a shelf.
