A beautiful vintage studio pottery trinket dish, made by P. F. Alexander of Colley Pottery (Colley Arts Studio Pottery), dating to the 1970s and produced in Colley, Yorkshire.
Hand-thrown and softly glazed, this small dish features a delicately illustrated rural landscape: rolling fields, hedgerows, and a distant hill rendered in gentle green tones, as though sketched from memory rather than observation. There’s a quiet, pastoral calm to the scene, the sort of everyday countryside view that becomes deeply familiar, and therefore deeply nostalgic.
The glaze has a subtle crackle throughout, adding depth and character, while the slightly irregular form speaks to its handmade nature. The base is impressed Colley Arts and PFA, firmly grounding the piece in its Yorkshire studio pottery heritage and linking it to the work of P. F. Alexander.
Perfect as a trinket dish, ring bowl, or small altar piece, it’s a thoughtful object for holding life’s small essentials, jewellery, matches, or found treasures. It would also make a wonderful addition to a gallery wall.
