Vintage Don & Ann Askew Studio Pottery Medieval Gentleman Candle Holders / Bud Vases

A remarkable pair of vintage studio pottery candle holders by Don & Ann Askew Ceramics (Bolton-by-Bowland, Lancashire). Each figure is a characterful medieval gentleman, one a knight holding a decorated shield, the other a courtly nobleman in a broad-brimmed hat carrying a staff. Rich in texture and full of personality, they capture the Askews’ distinctive blend of folklore, history, and playfulness in clay.

Handcrafted in stoneware and finished in a rustic cream glaze with earthy accents, the pair are versatile as candlestick holders or as small bud vases. Functional yet sculptural, they make an incredible talking point in any room and a true collector’s piece of English studio pottery.
