This joyful little enamel cockerel pot is full of personality and vibrant colour, hand-painted in the traditional folk style of Portugal and finished in a rich enamel gloss. Originally intended as a cocktail stick holder, it’s one of those pieces that invites imaginative reuse, perfect for holding matches, a twisted beeswax candle, or a tiny stem or two of dried flowers.
The colours are bold and bright, with little hearts, dots, and tulip-like motifs scattered across its body. I especially love the contrast of the deep black glaze with the vivid red comb and cobalt blue base. It has a lovely weight to it and makes a delightful addition to a seasonal shelf or dinner table, it’s a beautifully made piece of folk art that feels both playful and enduring.
