Vintage Folk Art Leather & Brass Heart Harness Strap

A beautifully characterful vintage leather and brass harness strap, detailed with two hand-formed brass hearts and a solid rectangular brass mount, each individually made and subtly unique in shape and finish. The dark, timeworn leather has softened through age and use, finished with solid brass fittings, a buckle, rings and hook, giving the piece both strength and quiet elegance.

As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of my Taid and his Welsh cottage (Hiraeth Cottage) - objects like this were hung by his stone fireplace, catching the light and telling stories without ever needing words. Practical things, kept close, becoming part of the fabric of a home.

Originally part of equestrian tack, this piece now works beautifully as a wall-hung folk object - full of warmth, memory and quiet presence. A striking addition to an entryway, kitchen or hearthside wall, where its materials and history can be properly appreciated.

Each mark, crease and variation in the brass elements speaks to its handmade nature and its life before now.
