Vintage Hand-Carved Wooden Cow with Bell • Y Fuwch Fach Goch | The Little Red Cow

An absolutely beautiful little hand-carved wooden cow, painted with wonderfully bold red patches and finished with a tiny brass bell around her neck that actually rings.

This one made me smile the moment I found her. There’s something so joyful and nostalgic about the slightly wonky hand-carved shape, the visible marks of the maker’s tools and that little bell - she immediately reminded me of summers spent on my Nain and Taid’s farm, with cows in the fields and all the familiar sounds of farm life around us.

I love that she hasn’t been made to look too perfect. Every little carved edge and painted mark gives her so much character, and she feels very much like something that was made by hand to be loved rather than simply displayed.

A gorgeous little piece of folk art for a shelf, kitchen dresser or amongst a collection of old wooden toys - Y Fuwch Fach Goch, the little red cow.
