Vintage Hand-Painted Pansies Studio Pottery Jug, Signed ‘JS’

Such a special little piece. A beautifully handmade vintage studio pottery jug, finished in the most wonderful soft pastel pink glaze and covered all the way around with individually hand-painted pansies in deep violet, buttery yellow and green.

I especially love the slightly wonky hand-thrown shape, generous looped handle and the way the flowers wander around the whole jug rather than simply decorating the front, there’s something so joyful and unmistakably handmade about it. Lovely filled with a few garden or dried flowers, but equally beautiful left empty on a shelf.

Signed JS to the base. I haven’t been able to identify the potter, but the quality of the throwing, glazing and detailed decoration makes this a particularly lovely piece of studio pottery.

Vintage condition: In great overall condition. There are a few small chips to the glaze around the underside of the base, only really visible when the jug is turned over and not affecting its use or display.
