A beautiful example of hand-painted mid-century Polish faience, featuring a joyful blue bird encircled by bold cobalt florals. This paddle-shaped plaque was made in Poland and marked Faïans (a French term for tin-glazed earthenware), pattern number 550. The brushwork is expressive and characterful, typical of Eastern European folk ceramics of the 1950s–70s.
We love its simple charm hung in a kitchen or hallway, or layered into a shelf or dresser display for a pop of deep blue loveliness!
