Vintage Handmade Studio Pottery Crackle Glaze Toad Sculpture, Signed

A wonderfully eccentric little toad, dressed to the nines in a hand-painted blue and white suit, complete with tie, waistcoat, and pocket square. This charming sculpture is handmade and signed by the artist (though I haven’t been able to identify the signature), and finished in a beautifully crazed crackle glaze that adds such depth and character.

There’s something storybook-like about him, as if he’s wandered in from the pages of Wind in the Willows. He’d be right at home on a shelf amongst books and curiosities, or bringing a little humour and heart to a hallway table. A truly special one of a kind piece.
