This striking vintage vase was hand-thrown by Wold Pottery, a celebrated Yorkshire pottery studio originally based in the village of Routh before relocating to Beverley. Known for their distinctive wheel-thrown earthenware and expressive glazes, Wold Pottery pieces are both collectable and beautifully functional.
This particular vase features deep, atmospheric bands of oceanic blue and teal glaze, layered over warm terracotta clay with a softly flared rim and gently curving form. The surface shows subtle throwing rings that reveal the maker’s hand, offering a tactile sense of the making process. On the base, it is stamped: WOLD, HAND THROWN, ROUTH BEVERLY YORKSHIRE.
Perfect for displaying large blooms, as shown here with ruffled pale peonies, or standing alone as a sculptural statement, this vase brings together rustic charm and timeless artistry.
