A beautifully characterful studio pottery vase made by Gordon Fox of Kentmere Pottery, Cumbria. Fox trained at George Cook’s Ambleside Pottery between 1959 and 1966 before establishing his own workshop, and his pieces are cherished for their warm, earthy palettes and hand-carved, quietly playful decoration.

This example features a terracotta body with incised floral motifs and fine vertical linework, topped with a rich black gloss glaze that gives the whole piece a striking contrast. The base is clearly marked Kentmere with Fox’s impressed potter’s stamp, a lovely piece of British studio pottery heritage.

Perfect for dried stems, a single bloom, or simply displayed as a sculptural object on a shelf. A wonderful addition for collectors of mid-century and Lake District pottery.
