Rare Vintage Solid Brass Snail Tape Measure

An absolutely amazing little brass tape measure, shaped as a coiled snail.

Pull his head gently and a 2 metre tape measure reveals itself from within his shell, such a simple, clever detail, and a wonderful example of when function meets aesthetic. 

A really beautiful piece of midcentury design, with a lovely weight and a warm, timeworn patina that’s settled into every ridge of the shell. It’s the kind of object that sits between useful and purely treasured, something to keep close on a desk, sewing table or nestled between plants on a bookshelf, something that is picked up as much for its form as for its function.

I’ve never come across one like this before. A rare and special find and an object to treasure forever.
