Vintage Parlane Blue Glazed Studio Pottery Scalloped Jug with Tiny Honey Bee Detail

This jug is a beauty! Finished in a beautiful rich cornflower blue glaze with subtle tonal variation, this generously sized jug has a wonderfully rounded shape, a gently scalloped rim and a beautifully formed handle that sits perfectly in the hand. It’s a piece that looks just as lovely overflowing with garden flowers as it does displayed on a kitchen shelf between everyday moments.

My favourite detail, though, is one that could easily be missed. Tucked away near the base of the handle is the sweetest little impressed bee stamp – a tiny signature hidden within the clay that adds so much charm and curiosity.

The base is stamped PARLANE. Established in Britain during the 1970s, Parlane became known for curating beautifully made country homewares and ceramics, often commissioning or sourcing pieces from skilled independent potteries across Europe. Rather than being the potter themselves, Parlane acted as the retailer, making pieces like this increasingly interesting as they often retain the character and craftsmanship of the workshop that originally created them.
