This is one of those pieces I was drawn to straight away - a beautiful vintage studio pottery pot by Ann Saward of Cockington Pottery, with the most incredible glaze that is reminiscent of the sea.
Deep inky blues melt into turquoise and soft sea greens, with little areas where the glaze has pooled and shifted over the surface, leaving the warm natural clay exposed around the base.
Ann Saward worked in Reading, Berkshire during the 1980s before moving to Cockington Court in Torquay, Devon in the 1990s. This piece carries her distinctive AS mark to the base.
A lovely little pot for matches, brushes, dried stems or simply sitting on a shelf as it is - especially beautiful for anyone else who is drawn to colours that remind them of the coast.
