Another beautiful piece by Ann Saward of Cockington Pottery, and one I couldn’t resist for its beautiful blue details. A wonderfully generous studio pottery bowl with a soft speckled off-white centre, surrounded by washes of deep cobalt, watery blue and turquoise glaze that pool and run around the rim.
Handmade by Saward, who worked in Reading during the 1980s before moving to Cockington Court in Torquay in the 1990s, the bowl carries her AS potter’s mark to the base.
Beautiful enough to leave empty and enjoy as it is, but equally lovely filled with fruit, shells or other little treasures collected along the way. The shifting blues make every part of it feel slightly different - a really special piece of British studio pottery.
