Vintage Studio Pottery Chequered Polka Dot Beaker

I absolutely love the decoration on this one - a handmade vintage studio pottery beaker covered in a wonderful chequerboard of charcoal-black and natural speckled clay, with tiny rust-red polka dots scattered in between.

The pattern has been painted completely by hand, so none of the squares are quite the same, and I love the little flashes of red against the darker glaze. Even the base has a beautiful little hand-worked scalloped detailing running around the edge.

I love the idea of this used for a morning flat white or cappuccino, but I think it would look gorgeous on a desk filled with pens and paintbrushes - one of those pieces that can happily move around the house depending on what you need it for.

Stamped ‘JM’ to the base. I haven’t been able to identify the potter, but it’s a beautifully made and really distinctive piece of studio pottery.
