Vintage Studio Pottery Green & Brown Drip Glaze Mug

Such a beautiful vintage studio pottery mug, with the loveliest soft green glaze washed through with cream, smoky brown and little flashes of warm rust around the rim and handle. The glaze has moved completely differently around every side, pooling and running in long painterly drips so there’s something new to notice each time you turn it around.

I love the shape too - gently pinched in through the middle with a lovely rounded belly and a generous hand-pulled handle. It feels substantial and beautifully balanced in the hand, made to be properly used rather than simply admired on a shelf.

The deepest browns gather around the base and where the handle joins the body, while the front has that gorgeous almost landscape-like sweep of green, cream and dark brown. A really beautiful piece of studio pottery and such a good everyday mug - especially for a big morning coffee or tea.

Completely unique, beautifully made and one of those glazes that could never be exactly repeated.
