Vintage Studio Pottery Impressed Floral Vessel

An absolutely beautiful piece… one of those really special pieces that reveals more the longer you sit with it.

This vintage studio pottery vessel has been entirely hand-worked, its surface gently impressed with the most delicate repeating floral pattern, each little bloom pressed into the clay. There’s something so soft and rhythmic about it, almost like fabric or lace translated into stone.

The glaze is just as lovely, a warm, earthy palette of mossy greens and soft neutrals, sitting above a rich iron-toned base where the glaze breaks and drips naturally. It has such a wonderful, organic movement. 

The form is simple and grounding, a softly rounded shape with a small foot that lifts it ever so slightly, giving it presence without feeling heavy.

There is an artist’s seal to the base, though I haven’t been able to identify the maker, which only adds to its sense of quiet mystery, a one-off piece, made by hand, waiting to find its place again.

A small but incredibly detailed piece, every aspect is just so beautiful.
