A striking piece of handmade studio pottery, crafted in Blanchland, Northumberland and marked to the base. This vase has a classic rounded form with a gently flared rim, finished in natural stoneware tones.
The body is a soft, sandy clay with a speckled surface, while the rim is glazed in a rich mottled green that flows beautifully down the neck. At the centre sits a raised medallion of a lion’s head, a bold, almost heraldic detail that adds presence and character to the piece.
Both sculptural and functional, this vase is perfect for displaying fresh or dried stems, or for enjoying as a decorative object in its own right. A wonderful example of British studio pottery with a touch of folk charm.
Vintage condition: in good condition, tiny pin sized chip to the inner rim, this doesn’t affect use and can only be noticed upon close inspection.
