Vintage Studio Pottery Vase with Sea Blue Glaze

A beautiful vintage studio pottery vessel with the most wonderful softly rounded form and a glaze that immediately makes me think of the sea.

Layers of muted blue, grey and sea green move across the surface, scattered with tiny speckles and subtle variations where the glaze has gathered and changed in the firing. Up close, it has that same almost impossible mixture of colours you find looking into seawater, never quite one shade of blue.

I particularly love its generous, gently curving shape and narrow waist, with the throwing lines still quietly visible beneath the glaze. Beautiful filled with dried grasses or simply left as it is, allowing that incredible surface to do all the talking.
